Stunning landscapes, visual softness and structurally sound fascias are no longer mutually exclusive design goals for reinforced soil walls and steep slopes. Geo VerdeTM units combine custom growth mediums, conventional engineering tiebacks principals and simple installation requirements to enable development and longterm vitality of dense, vegetated fascias. If going “Green” has been a challenge in having ‘green’, overcome the obstacles with Geo Verde units.

Geo Verde units use a custom geotextile bag
to permanently confine select growth mediums, giving the mediums shape
and support during installation, allowing rain or irrigation waters to
penetrate into the medium and enabling excessive medium water to escape
through the fascia without corres
ponding erosion. The geogrid extension
locks the bag and medium to the adjacent soil, ensuring fascia
stability and longterm wall ‘shape’ maintenance. Similarly, these extensions are sufficiently strong and spaced to allow taller structures and/or greater overburdens without subsequent primary reinforcement - resulting in real cost savings on many projects. Finally, the composite of bag and geogrid allow the Geo Verde units to achieve any slope or wall steepness, including vertical inclinations.

Vegetation selection is literally a function of the designer’s imagination given the geometrical, climactic and maintenance project requirements. Plant placement within the fascia system is not limiting to species selection as seed can be mixed within the medium or hydraulically applied to the completed fascia. In addition, live stakes, plugs or bare root sprigs may be applied through the bag or brush layering between bags is possible. Similarly, soil mediums used within the Geo Verde units may be customized to meet specific plant species needs, resulting in excellent plant growth and longterm vitality. In essence, Geo Verde units offer versatility to the plant selection process.
Designers of Geo Verde fascia systems
can continue to use conventional engineering design protocols for soil
reinforced structures, e.g., AASHTO, NCMA, ACE, Bishops Modified, etc.
