Triangular Silt Dike [TSD]® provides versatility in creating temporary stormwater runoff diversions and channels. Where sheet flows collect and must be safely diverted and transported across or down slope to a discharge point, Triangular Silt Dike offers both the barrier and transport mechanisms to accomplish these tasks without creating additional erosion. In essence, TSD should replace silt fencing where flows parallel and adjacent to the silt fence are anticipated. Due to its low permeability, TSD is particularly useful
where seepage onto a road becomes a safety hazard during cold weather. TSD simply directs water to a proper discharge location rather than allowing it to migrate onto the pavem
ent surface.
Where down-slope flumes or other temporary channels must be created, TSD offers an easy-to-install and remove, reusable alternative to conventional systems. When combined with an overlying geomembrane, geotextile or plastic sheet, TSD can facilitate channelized movement of large flows without heavy equipment, subgrade excavation or subsequent high restorative costs.
Both Triangular Silt Dike models utilize integral, up- and down-gradient aprons to reduce erosion or enhance performance. The up-gradient apron is toed into the soil, forcing the water flow above the apron and protecting the underlying soils. The down-gradient apron protects subsoils in the event that TSD is breached.
Edge Barrier® is fabricated without up- or down-gradient geotextile aprons. Edge Barrier is ideal for creating flumes or channels using an overlying sheet product or for diverting water over pavements [using a mastic to temporarily adhere Edge Barrier to the pavement]. This latter application is particularly useful for pavement runoff diversion to slope flumes or tubes on high embankments, preventing slope erosion damage on unseeded, newly seeded or developing vegetation slopes.
DID YOU CONSIDER ...
Both Triangular Silt Dike and Edge Barrier remain functional even when subjected to the rigors of construction vehicle passage. Whether you choose these products or one of our other check dam systems, consider the use of Triangular Silt Dike or Edge Barrier for those zones where high-clearance equipment crossings are needed.
