Erosion Eel™, manufactured by Friendly Environment, is a reusable, easy to deploy/remove, cost effective, check dam BMP. The combination of a unique filtration geotextile encapsulating recycled rubber provides temporary storm water backups without the need for trenching. Using the built-in handling straps, simply place and orient the Erosion Eels perpendicular to the flow line. The combination of their weight and steel 
T-posts resists downgradient migration [see 'Details' and 'Installation' in the Topics Index box]. And when the project no longer requires check dams, simply remove the Erosion Eels and store them for their next application.
Not only do Erosion Eels back up water, allowing gravity to remove the medium to course particulates, their post-consumer recycled rubber infill with its unique gradation partially treats the flow-through water, redering a cleaner stormwater discharge. In addition, the underlying FlocMats capture and hold significant fine particulates via the incorporation of Silt Stop® polyacrylamide blends. Friendly Environment -products fabricated with less environmental impact providing performance which results in less environmental impact.
