Erosion Eel™, manufactured by Friendly Environment, is a reusable, easy to deploy/remove, cost effective, sheet flow - perimeter control BMPs. The combination of a unique filtration geotextile encapsulating recycled rubber provides temporary sheet flow - periment storm water treatment, typically without the need for trenching or staking. Using the built-in handling straps, simply place and orient the Erosion Eels perpendicular to the flow line. Their weight resists downgradient migration [see 'Details' and 'Installation' in the Topics Index box]. And when the project no longer requires sheet flow - perimeter protection, simply remove the Erosion Eels and store them for their next application.
Not only do Erosion Eels slow the water flow, allowing gravity to remove the medium to course particulates, their post-consumer recycled rubber infill with its unique gradation partially treats the flow-through water, redering a cleaner stormwater discharge. In addition, the underlying FlocMats capture and hold significant fine particles via the incorporation of Silt Stop® polyacrylamide blends.
