Ecolofence refers to a family of silt fence systems designed to remove most suspended solids from captured sheet flows. When properly located and installed, Ecolofence products enable settlement of sands, most silts and some clays on their up-gradient or ponded side, while allowing significantly clarified water to discharge through 
the structure.
Ecolofence products detain flows, effectively creating ‘leaky dams' in front of which turbid stormwater ponds. Their performance is dependent on the time of impoundment as gravity requires time to pull suspended particles downward through the water column. Effective silt fencing mandates placement with impoundment capability and as much ‘storage' volume capacity as the site allows.
