Soil Retaining Structures
The use of soil retaining structures is both a conventional site-civil tool and an important erosion control BMP alternative. Traditionally, soil retaining structures represented 'hard fascia' landscape elements. Concrete, timbers, sheet piling and modular blocks produce massive features with strong visual impacts. Price & Company offers three wall and oversteepened slope fascia systems which provide a soft, vegetated appearance. In essence, these systems enable soil retaining structures to retreat into the landscaped background, enabling other features to dominate the visual motif. And with vegetated fascias, the aesthetic appearance can vary as widely as the designer's imagination and change in both texture and color during the seasons.
Deltalok® and Geoweb® fascia systems offer the choice of use within both gravity and tied-back walls and slope applicaitons while Strata wire basket systems typically provide facial surfacing for tie-back applications, only. All three systems offer great flexibility in adjusting to post-construction subgrade movements and ground water conditions - a critical issue for a number of applicatons. In addition, these green fascia elements do not crack or stain and are not subject to efflorescence or graffiti defacing.
